Practice Overview
Matt joined Ritch Williams & Richards as an associate lawyer in June 2026 following his call to the Nova Scotia Bar. Matt is building a practice focused on advocating for clients in insurance defence matters across the Atlantic Provinces. Drawing on his legal training and strong financial background, Matt brings a practical, analytical approach to problem-solving and client service.
About
Matt is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Law and holds both a Master of Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from Saint Mary's University. During law school, Matt was awarded the Nova Scotia Law Foundation Scholarship for academic achievement. Similarly, during his graduate studies, Matt graduated at the top of his class and was recognized with several academic scholarships and awards.
Prior to joining Ritch Williams & Richards, Matt completed his articles at a mid-sized full-service firm in Nova Scotia, where he gained experience in both litigation and transactional matters.
Matt has remained actively involved in his community through volunteer and leadership initiatives. Matt currently serves as a Board Member of the Halifax Forum Community Association. Matt also served as Treasurer of the UNB Law Social Committee, overseeing financial planning and budgeting for student and faculty events.
Outside the office, Matt likes to stay active - whether it be cycling, running, or attempting to play tennis. Matt also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
